What you'll explore

  • Visit coral nurseries where young fragments grow on tree-like and ladder-like structures.
  • Observe how corals develop and recognize the signs of good health or stress
  • Explore neighboring transplant sites to see how the restored corals are establishing themselves.
  • Discover the reef life already present within these new colonies
  • Share your observations during a relaxed post-dive debrief.
  • On a private sailing charter, enjoy extras like a hydrophone to listen to the ocean’s symphony, an Insta360 to capture what’s happening underwater, and the RealVision™ 3D Axiom Fish Finder to spot marine life and choose the best anchoring spot.

Citizen science

During this dive, citizen science involves observing how corals grow, identifying signs of stress, and witnessing the life already taking root in these restored areas. Your observations contribute to a clearer picture of Curaçao’s reef recovery. You will also receive a personalized report of your dive, including our observations and photos, and if you participate in a boat expedition, also audio recordings with the hydrophone.

FAQ

No, only trained restoration teams handle the nurseries. Our role is to observe and learn without disturbing the corals or their environment. If you’d like to get more involved, visit Reef Renewal Curaçao to find out how you can support their restoration efforts.

The shore dive is simple and straightforward: gear up on the beach and walk straight into the water. The private sailing cruise spends a few relaxed hours at sea, hair in the wind, with more freedom to explore — plus extras like the hydrophone, Insta360, and the RealVision™ 3D Axiom Fish Finder, which bring the ocean to life in a whole new way.

Of course. Bring it along if you wish. If not, we’ve got you covered — we can provide a camera, or our team will take photos for you while you enjoy the dive.

Around one hour underwater, depending on your air consumption and conditions. Calm and unhurried — with plenty of time to slow down and truly observe.
