Citizen science
Wrecks don’t just tell stories of the past — they become living reefs.
The Superior Producer is now home to sponges, corals, and countless fish that have made its structure their own. During this dive, we observe how marine life has colonised the wreck, note any changes in its condition, and add these insights to the broader picture of the health of Curaçao’s artificial reefs. You’ll also receive a personalised dive report with our observations and photos.
FAQ
At what depth is the Superior Producer?
The wreck lies at around 30–35 m (100–115 ft). This is deep-diving territory. An Advanced certification is required, and the Deep Diver specialty is strongly recommended for increased safety and bottom time.
Can you enter the wreck?
Not without appropriate training. With an Advanced or Deep certification, you can explore the exterior of the wreck, but penetration is not permitted. Limited penetration is reserved for divers holding both Deep and Wreck Diver specialties, or for students enrolled in a Wreck Diver course under direct supervision.
Are there any day or time restrictions?
Yes. Access to the Superior Producer is restricted when cruise ships are docked at the Mega Pier. We schedule our dives around the port calendar to remain safe and fully compliant.
What marine life will we see?
Plenty. Tarpon often circle the wreck, alongside snappers, glassy sweepers, and the occasional barracuda. Over the years, corals and sponges have colonised the structure, making it one of Curaçao’s most vibrant artificial reefs.
